Gratitude--Day 2

Today I am grateful for patience.

Now I'm not talking about my own because I feel like I rarely have enough patience for the day. I am talking about the patience of the kids. Being the kid of a theatre person isn't easy. At least once a year (sometimes two or three times) I am gone every night for 6-10 weeks and most weekends. They patiently are rushed through meals and goodbyes. They do homework and hear bedtime books at non-traditional times. And over the course of the rehearsal period the family feels more and more untethered from one another.

Of course there are perks...sneak previews, backstage passes and photo ops with the casts.

Gratitude-Day 1

I am going to do a daily gratitude post for November. Maybe I will get the kids involved, maybe not. But in the chaos of production and end of semester madness this will be a moment to reflect on the good life! So...off we go.

Day 1

I am grateful to be working in the profession and field that I always imagined myself. Theatre became very important in my life during college. I met amazing people, had incredible experiences and really learned a lot about myself and life in the theatre. Fast forward 15 years and I am fortunate to be back at Concordia as a professor in the theatre program. I'm pretty sure I never imagined myself teaching at Cobberville and yet our family feels so comfortable here in the Fargo/Moorhead area.

I am blessed to be a professor of theatre and we are blessed to feel "home".

Buffalo River Pumpkin Patch

We found a great pumpkin patch just out of town! It was a beautiful fall day and we had a great time picking out our pumpkins!

Here are a bunch of pictures.

Family Haircut Day

Well, we knew this day would come. Maya and Danny needed haircuts and Fin decided that it was time to assert her authority with regard to her hairstyle. So...Fin got a haircut too. A big haircut.

A little pre-cut book reading time.
