Some fun pics

Not a whole lot to update or share. It's felt like a really long 2 weeks just because of not having a whole lot of time off last weekend. So we made up for it today by everyone (yes, even Miss I-Nap-50-Minutes) taking a 2 hour nap! It was quite lovely. We got up and did a little more work on the polka dot room. We are still missing a "large" piece of art for above the chair but otherwise I think the room is complete. Most of her toys are in there. We added a mirror on the closet door for her to dance in front of...this will probably eat up hours of playtime!

We don't have a lot planned for the rest of the weekend. I am in the last 2 weeks of school so I have a ton of things to do (grading, writing a paper, turning in my prospectus, etc)...so I will probably try and grab some quiet time! :)

Monday we have our 34 week appointment. We are having another ultrasound to check on growth because of my thyroid. We aren't complaining...just another chance to get a sneak peek. Last time, if you recall, the bugger would push his/her face just close enough to see the tip of the nose and then retreat out of the shot. If we get some shots I will make sure to post them along with the stats and update!

As for now...enjoy some pics of the last few days!

Storming the Castle...

Maya comes into our room pretty much every morning to wake us up. Some mornings she turns on the lights, others she just stares until we wake up and yet other mornings (the blissful ones) she hops in bed with us and goes back to sleep. We had one of the blissful mornings this morning. I don't even think Danny opens his eyes anymore but instead pulls back the covers and she hops in. This morning I hear a little voice demand..."I need some space". Danny slid over closer to me. Then I hear..."Stop moving the covers". Danny settles down in the middle and arranges the princesses covers to her needs. I was laughing loudly in my head for fear of getting reprimanded myself!

And just because I think blog posts without pictures are lame...here is a favorite oldie-but-goodie!

A New Kind of "Memorial" Day

It seems this memorial day weekend was all about saying goodbye to one "baby" in order to prepare for the next. It was a crazy 3-4 days of packing and panicking and worrying and laughing...not to mention exhaustion! Our house is in a total state of chaos except for one soon-to-be big sister's polka dot room. There are still a ton of finishing touches to be done: paint touch-ups, more polka dots, arranging pictures and moving the rest of her toys in...but for the most part...the kid is moved across the hallway! That's about all we did all weekend. We are exhausted but it feels wonderful to have started this transition for Maya!

Here are some shots.

And a fun video to boot!

Ah, I know now...

Yet another reason they survive (see post below) is because they wake up on Monday morning after a full night's sleep (we haven't had this as of late) and come and give big hugs and kisses and say "I love you and missed you last night when I was sleeping". Seriously...who wouldn't get all gooshy!

This morning was great and thankfully we can say goodbye to the weekend!

Question of the Weekend...

How do children live to be 3? You may think I am joking...but, unfortunately after the weekend we have had in this house...I AM NOT!

Please don't tell us it is a "stage" and it will get better. This implies that we have to keep dealing with this for an extended period of time.

If you tell us it gets worse you could quite easily end up with a child on your doorstep by nightfall!

The only way I think they make it to 3 is because they have these momentary lapses in judgment when they forget to be evil and try to be cute instead. Yes...I just used the word evil in relation to our child. Does that make me a bad parent? Well, Danny and I both had some stellar parenting moments this weekend! :) We didn't document those moments...but we have a few of her being "cute".

Hell has frozen over...

After 3 years of living in this house we have finally...drum roll please...washed the windows! Seriously, I'm not even lying! Inside and outside, the windows are cleaned. It looks like a different world outside...who knew? :)

I just want to say...

on the way to school today at 8:45am it was 70 degrees. By the time we were coming home at 5:30 it was 96 degrees! Whose idea was it to have a baby in July?!? Seriously....

Happy Birthday Odin!

Odin turns two today and in honor of his love of buses (and all things that move) I am posting some pictures of Maya during her field trips! (She had 3 field trips in 3 days...yes, seriously).

On the bus:
On the police motorcycle:

Typing in the perp's license plate: Mowing the lawn: And finally...some cute face paint and it's removal in the bath!

How Many???

If you click on the numbers on the ticker it goes through the various ways of counting up/down the pregnancy. Well, if you click it a few times you can see we are at 60 days left or 8 weeks and 4 days! Seriously...that is too soon.

Here are a few of the things still left to do:
-Move Maya into her big sister room (this sounds easy enough but it means emptying out the guest room of a billion books and various other bits)
-Order the "new one's" bed
-Wash up/sort out the baby gear (again...easy enough except we totally didn't pay attention as to how we were throwing stuff in bins as Maya grew out of them)
-Find all the gear (stroller, car seat, ergo, etc)
-A billion other little things that I can't think of right now...

And I know this is a "repeat" picture...but I freaking love it!!!

A Week with Auntie Kate!

It's been almost a year since we've had our favorite Auntie Kate down for a visit! Of course we've seen her several times up in Seattle over the last year but it's always great to have her down to our pad!

We definitely kept her busy! :) We had her painting, blowing bubbles, chasing after Maya on her Skuut bike, installing faucets and sinks, flirting with the counter top man and many other tasks! She was a great help to us and it's always hard to fill the space after we send her back home.

We are darn close to having our kitchen "done". We have a few tasks left...outlets/switches, touch up paint and molding. But just to look back here is a before from 3 years ago when we bought the house and here it is as it looks tonight. (please don't look at the dishes in the sink)

It is definitely feeling like "us" rather than a room we are tolerating and living with! During the faucet installation everyone ended up under the sink at some point...including me with my big belly hanging out for the world to see! There are pictures but I won't subject anyone to them! :)

We had a great Mother's Day today. We were busy but not horribly so. Danny mowed and entertained Maya. I painted the pantry and bathroom doors white and did laundry. Maya got me Juno and orange tic tacs! I think Danny and I are pondering getting a big hammock for the backyard for a joint Mother's Day/Father's Day present but as of yet we are just enjoying each other's company!

Here are some pictures from the week! Enjoy...and hopefully I will be a little more on the game of updating the blog!

We're back...

So it's been a bit since I have updated. What have we been up to?

Lots of school, work and theatre commitments of course. Danny has been working on his sound design for "Or Not to Be", I have been working on lots of grading and reading and Maya has been entertaining us immensely!

We also were trying to get everything at least partially organized in the house for the arrival of the Thomas Srs and Auntie Kate. The guest room/Maya's polka dot room is in a state of chaos and transition. The living room is livable and somewhat organized although, in some respects it is a holding area for Maya's toys and my books.

Last week the Zagurski's came to town and we were able to go to the park and have supper with them. On Thursday the Thomas grandparents arrived for the weekend. We went to a Cinco de Mayo celebration over the weekend with the grandparents and the Wiants. Then on Sunday night Auntie Kate arrived for a splendid week of chatting and hard labor (well, so far).

Yesterday (Monday) I had my 30 week appointment. Everything is fine and dandy. We took Maya along (and Kate)...the room was really full...and had an enjoyable time. We have another appointment in two weeks and then two weeks after that (at the 34 week appointment) we have an ultrasound scheduled to see how the kid is growing. Hopefully he/she will be more accommodating for picture taking since all we got were feet and ass during the last ultrasound. :)

Here are a few pictures of our "week"...
